Everyday you’re faced with 1000′s of decisions. Here’s a thumb nail sketch:

• What time to get up”
• What to eat?
• What to wear?
• What to do? (First, Next & Last)
• What NOT to do?
• Who to fire?
• Who to Hire?
• emails or phone calls first?
• Facebook or Twitter first?
• Get new business or fulfill existing business?
• Gas now or later?

There are literally 1000′s of decisions that you make every day, most of which are made automatically or unconsciously. For most people, you got up today at the same time you got up yesterday and it’s the same time  you will get up tomorrow.  And so it is with your life (you’re living you’re own version of the movie “Ground Hog Day”), but you think that you’re not.

Now let’s look at “Stupid Decisions” and how they’re Good Business. Conventional decisions get conventional results. A paraphrase of Mr. Einstein’s thoughts on this topic is “to get something different, you need to think differently”. BUT thinking differently is stupid, dangerous and risky. Ask Bill Gates. Ask Ivan Misner. Ask Howard Schwartz. Ask Barack Obama. Ask Oprah Winfrey. Ask Barbara Walters. Ask Sam Walton.

According to Forrest Gump’s Mama “Stupid is as Stupid Does”. The only thing that is stupid is what you do that doesn’t innovate, doesn’t add value to your clients, doesn’t show loving kindness to your family and doesn’t make you happy. I know that you may be thinking, what kind on Utopian hogwash crap is this. Or that this is a stupid article to spend my time reading… And you’re right. Now what?

Here are some stupid decisions that are good for your business:

• Call every client that has spent money with your this year and say thank you.
• Publish 50 tweets through your twitter account.
• Send 26 personal emails to your family, friends and loved ones and say just wanted to say hi and see how you’re doing.
• Take your spouse, partner or significant other out on a date and don’t expect sex.
• Tip someone 3 or 4 times what is customary.
• Play your Top 5 all time favorite song from your high school years.
