BizSayer Answers: Why do bad things happen in 3s?

Why do bad things always come in threes (3s)?

As an Intuitive Consultant, it seems that we answer the same 5 to 10 questions repeatedly. When I’m working in a public forum (a seminar or public messages) one of the questions that comes up is “Why do bad things always happen in 3s?

With Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett & Michael Jackson all dying within a few days, the question is being asked again… But the death of Billy Mays makes 4. Billy wasn’t a star, buy certainly a celebrity and blows the “bad things come in 3s” theory. Yikes!

The reason that bad things happen in 3s is simply that after the 3rd incident, we start counting again at 1. Ta Da! That’s it. 3 things is about all we canĀ  easily remember so we start counting again at one.

When anything bad, different or significant happens a part of our mental process is activated called the “reticular activator”. The reticular activator is there to bring to the foreground of our consciousness things that have an emotional impact on us. Whether we experience joy, saddness, anger or shock our mind is designed to become “hyper-aware” of whatever casued the emotion either to protect us or help us propigate.

The reticular-activator process gets activated by some other incident whic replaces the last incident and we can recall or remember about 3 incidences of it being triggered.

And that’s why bad things always happen in 3s.
